"The OG Influencer": South Africa's First-Ever Multi-Owner OOH Collaboration Turns the Billboard Into a Cultural Statement

For the first time in South Africa, nine major out-of-home media owners — Primedia Outdoor, JCDecaux, Tractor Outdoor, Provantage, Reveel, Relativ Media, Alive Advertising, Evolv Outdoor, and Innovocean — joined forces on a single campaign. Creative agency Boundless and DOOH.co.za built the platform. The result: billboards reading "No one throws shade like me" and "Make Everything Outdoor" across Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, reigniting industry pride in physical media at a moment when digital commands all the budget conversation.

Nielsen Exits South Africa After 38 Years: GfK's Video360 Will Rewrite TV Planning Across the Entire Continent by 2027

The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa has confirmed GfK as the replacement supplier for the country's TV audience measurement service, following Nielsen's formal exit from the South African market. The transition — running in three phases through end-2027 — moves South Africa from the legacy TAMS daily ratings currency to a Total Video Measurement model (TVM) that integrates linear TV, broadcaster VOD, and streaming into a single planning dataset. Phase 1: Q1 2026 Establishment Survey. Phase 2: New trading currency live January 1, 2027. Phase 3: Full Total Video service by December 2027. There is no data blackout: Nielsen continues running TAMS until GfK's Video360 goes live.

Zimbabwe's Fintech Ad War: As EcoCash Defends 86% Market Share, InnBucks, Mukuru and ZB Digital Flood Mobile Channels With Spend

EcoCash retains a dominant 86% share of Zimbabwe's mobile money market, but its defensive advertising posture faces mounting pressure. InnBucks MicroBank has partnered with Mambu and Amazon Web Services to build a cloud-native digital banking platform. Mukuru officially launched the Mukuru Wallet following its Reserve Bank microfinance licence. ZB Financials has entered the digital payments space with new product infrastructure. The competitive scramble is accelerating mobile-first digital ad spend across Zimbabwe — reorienting media budgets away from traditional ATL and toward in-app, SMS, and social-commerce channels.
